Our team from Superior Training Centre recently had the pleasure of attending the Career Expo at All Saints Catholic College. It was a fantastic day spent connecting with students, teachers, and parents — and most importantly, inspiring the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
A huge thank you to All Saints Catholic College for the warm welcome and for giving us the opportunity to showcase the exciting career pathways available in the trades. With the sun shining and the energy buzzing, it was clear that the future is bright for students willing to think outside the box when it comes to their career choices.
Why High School is the Best Time to Explore Trades
For many young people, the final years of high school come with pressure to decide “what’s next.” University is often presented as the only option, but the reality is that trades offer equally rewarding — and often more practical — career opportunities.
Choosing a trade at a young age means:
✔ Getting Qualified Sooner – Many trade pathways allow students to start apprenticeships straight after school, earning while they learn and building skills that are always in demand.
✔ Job Security – The skills shortage in Australia means qualified tradespeople are highly sought after across industries like electrical, air conditioning, refrigeration, metal fabrication, and more.
✔ Hands-On, Practical Work – For those who enjoy problem-solving, working with their hands, and seeing the results of their work, the trades offer unmatched job satisfaction.
✔ Pathways for Growth – Trades aren’t a dead-end. With experience, many tradies move into business ownership, management, or even teaching the next generation.
The Importance of Career Expos for Young People
Events like the All Saints Catholic College Career Expo give students the chance to speak directly with training providers like Superior Training Centre. It’s an opportunity to ask questions, discover what trade careers are really like, and explore pathways they may not have considered before.
For parents, it’s also a reminder that university isn’t the only path to success. Trades are essential to Australia’s economy, and the opportunities for qualified workers have never been stronger.
