As building compliance requirements continue to evolve across Australia, the need for specialised, practical training in fire and smoke control systems has never been more critical.

Superior Training Centre’s UEERA0098: Inspect, Test and Repair Fire & Smoke Control program was developed in direct response to these growing industry requirements — bridging the gap between regulatory compliance, technical education, and the realities of on-site work environments.

Designed in collaboration with industry stakeholders, technical experts, and employers across the HVAC&R and building services sectors, this training was built to ensure learners develop not only the theoretical knowledge required for compliance, but also the practical competencies needed in real workplace conditions.

This includes understanding the inspection, testing, fault diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of fire and smoke control systems within buildings, where precision, safety, and adherence to standards are essential.

We are excited to share that this program has now been officially recognised as a finalist in the ARBS 2026 Education & Training Excellence Award, one of the most respected recognitions in Australia’s HVAC&R and building services industry. The award celebrates initiatives that advance workforce capability, education standards, and long-term industry outcomes.

The ARBS 2026 finalists include leading national organisations such as Daikin, VAE Group, and Precise Air Group, with STC recognised for the strength and industry relevance of the UEERA0098 program.

This nomination reflects STC’s ongoing commitment to designing training that is shaped by industry, aligned with compliance frameworks, and built around the skills employers need in the field today.

Rather than delivering education in isolation, our approach focuses on creating learning experiences that mirror real workplace environments — ensuring students, technicians, and professionals can confidently apply their skills in live building systems and operational settings.

As compliance standards and building safety expectations continue to rise, specialised programs such as this play a vital role in supporting both workforce development and safer built environments across Australia.

The winners of the ARBS Industry Excellence Awards will be announced during ARBS 2026 in May, as part of the industry gala program.
