Superior Training Centre has recently received several enquiries from experienced technicians who completed their Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration under earlier training package releases, such as UTE30999 and prior versions. Many of these qualifications were issued before certain electrical competency units were included as standard requirements.
Under current licensing expectations in NSW, technicians applying for a Supervisor Certificate in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration may be required to complete additional electrical units to demonstrate competency in safely working with low voltage electrical equipment connected to HVAC&R systems.
The two units commonly required are:
- UEERL0004 – Disconnect-reconnect electrical equipment connected to low voltage (LV) installation wiring (conditioned for Air Conditioning or Refrigeration)
- UEERL0005 – Locate and rectify faults in low voltage (LV) electrical equipment using set procedures
These units ensure technicians have the necessary knowledge and practical skills to safely isolate, reconnect and troubleshoot electrical components commonly encountered when servicing air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Flexible Training for Busy Tradespeople
Recognising that many applicants are experienced tradespeople with busy work schedules, Superior Training Centre has made these units available through our TradeHub online learning platform. This flexible approach allows students to complete the theory component online at their own pace.
To ensure competency is properly demonstrated, the practical assessment is conducted on campus, giving technicians the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a supervised workshop environment.
Supporting the Next Step in Your Career
For many experienced HVAC&R technicians, completing these units is the final step required to meet the licensing criteria for a Supervisor Certificate in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. By offering a blended delivery approach, Superior Training Centre helps industry professionals complete the necessary requirements while continuing to work in the field.
Technicians who believe they may require these units as part of their licensing pathway are encouraged to contact our team for further information about enrolment and upcoming practical assessment sessions.
