Why plumbing? Superior Training Centre expands its trade training offering

2

Superior Training Centre is expanding its vocational training offering with the introduction of CPC32420 Certificate III in Plumbing, marking another step in the organisation’s plans to provide more training pathways for Australia’s skilled workforce.

With the first intake scheduled for 11 November 2026 at its Ingleburn campus, the new qualification reflects STC’s commitment to responding to industry demand and providing apprentices with practical, industry-relevant training.

The decision to introduce plumbing comes at a time when Australia’s construction and building services industries continue to face workforce challenges. With ongoing residential development, infrastructure investment and increasing demand for maintenance and essential services, plumbing remains a trade with significant long-term career opportunities.

For STC, however, plumbing is not entirely new territory.

While the organisation has traditionally been recognised for its training in electrical and air conditioning and refrigeration, it has also delivered Disconnect and Reconnect training for tradespeople, including plumbers working with electric water heaters. This existing connection to the plumbing industry has provided a natural starting point for expanding into a full trade qualification.

The introduction of Certificate III in Plumbing allows STC to build on this experience while extending its training offering to a broader range of apprentices and employers.

It also reflects the increasingly connected nature of modern building services. Electrical, air conditioning and plumbing systems frequently operate alongside one another, particularly as new technologies reshape how buildings manage energy, heating and water.

As these industries evolve, access to quality vocational training will remain essential to developing a workforce capable of meeting changing technical and regulatory requirements.

The new qualification forms part of a wider expansion of STC’s course portfolio, with additional qualifications planned for release throughout 2026 and 2027. The strategy aims to provide more opportunities for apprentices, existing tradespeople and employers seeking nationally recognised training across multiple disciplines.

For Western Sydney, where residential development, commercial construction and infrastructure projects continue to shape the region, expanding local training options also means helping more apprentices develop their skills closer to home.

The first plumbing intake will be delivered face-to-face at STC’s Ingleburn campus, giving apprentices access to structured training that complements their workplace experience. Eligible apprentices may also benefit from NSW Government funding under the Smart and Skilled program.

With plumbing joining STC’s growing range of trade qualifications, the November launch represents more than the introduction of a new course. It is part of a broader commitment to supporting the industries that build, maintain and power Australian communities.

Enrolments and enquiries are now being welcomed for the inaugural Certificate III in Plumbing intake commencing 11 November 2026.
