What Is Fire Protection Inspection and Testing?
Fire protection equipment must be regularly inspected and tested to help ensure it remains operational and ready to perform during an emergency.
The CPP20521 Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing is designed for fire protection technicians undertaking non-trade installation and regular servicing of fire protection equipment and systems. Depending on their role and workplace, technicians may inspect and test equipment such as portable fire extinguishers, fire blankets, emergency and exit lighting, control and indicating equipment, and passive fire and smoke containment systems.
This work is important across commercial buildings, residential developments, warehouses, industrial sites, public facilities and other properties where fire safety equipment must be routinely checked and maintained.

Learn how to prepare equipment, documentation and work areas before completing fire protection installation or servicing activities.

CPPFES2020 – Conduct routine inspection and testing of fire extinguishers and fire blankets
Learn to complete routine monthly, six-monthly and yearly inspection and testing activities at client premises in accordance with applicable requirements.
CPPFES2026 – Inspect and test emergency and exit lighting systems
Develop the skills required to inspect and test the functional operation of emergency and exit lighting installed at client premises.
CPPFES2039 – Identify, inspect and test passive fire and smoke containment products and systems
Learn to identify and inspect passive fire protection measures designed to limit the spread of fire and smoke through a building.
CPPFES2047 – Inspect and test control and indicating equipment
Develop skills associated with inspecting and testing equipment that monitors and indicates the status of fire protection systems.
HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
Learn how to respond to common first-aid situations and provide initial assistance until further support is available.

The CPP20521 Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing is expected to commence at Superior Training Centre from August 2026.
