Superior Training Centre held its annual Student of the Year Awards on Tuesday, November 25 at the Ingleburn Bowling Club. The event brought together staff, trainers, industry partners, and students to recognise outstanding achievement, professionalism and commitment across our training programs. This year’s awards highlighted the dedication, resilience and growth demonstrated by students who consistently raise the standard within their trades.
Before presenting the major categories, a special recognition was introduced: the Attendance Superstar Award. This award was not listed in the original event program, as it was designed to acknowledge a quality that is often overlooked but essential for success—showing up. After reviewing attendance records across all classes, one student stood out for exceptional consistency, punctuality and engagement. The Attendance Superstar Award was presented to Craig Aldenhoven, whose commitment to being present and prepared has set an excellent example for all STC students.

The Apprentice of the Year Award recognised a student who has demonstrated outstanding technical development, reliability and enthusiasm for the electrical trade. The 2025 award was presented to Augustin (Gus) Hennecker. Originally from Belgium and with English as his second language, Gus made a significant career transition after more than a decade working as a professional DJ in London. His adaptability, discipline and strong academic performance have consistently placed him at the top of his class. Gus’s work ethic, pride in his workmanship and willingness to support those around him have earned him the respect of both trainers and peers. His ability to balance work, study and ongoing DJ commitments while maintaining exceptional results makes him a deserving recipient of this award.
The International Student of the Year Award honoured a student who has shown resilience and determination while adapting to a new country, culture and education system. The 2025 award was presented to Antonio Heidemann, who entered the HVAC field in March and has demonstrated rapid growth and a professional approach to every aspect of his training. Antonio progresses through both theory and practical work at an advanced pace, completing tasks ahead of schedule and consistently assisting classmates. His discipline, technical aptitude and willingness to learn have made a strong impression on the HVAC training team. Antonio’s dedication reflects the values STC strives to instil in all students, and his achievements as an international student are commendable.
The Student of the Year Awards serve as a reminder of the talent and commitment within the STC community. Each winner and finalist showcased qualities that will continue to strengthen the future of the HVAC and electrical industries. Superior Training Centre congratulates all award recipients and extends thanks to everyone who contributed to making the event a success.
